Welcome.

Nishisugamo-2, Toshima-ku. My neighborhood from my balcony.

I am fortunate enough to find myself here in Tokyo, Japan. I am here after over a year of pushing, pulling, umming and ahhring to get myself a place at The University of Tokyo. I am studying to be an architect.

Mnemonigram has three agendas.
  • Document and reflect on memorable experiences and discoveries from my time here in Tokyo and more broadly (funds permitting), Japan.
  • Document and reflect on my most recent worldwide travels in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, UK, and Western Europe.
  • I have a passionate curiosity about how creative people procure ideas and nurture their creativity. I see this blog as an opportunity to experiment with the idea of an online database of my posts as a mnemonic documentation method. My architectural ideas are conceived by first searching through my memories of what I know, what I think I know and listening to my senses; these intuitive sense have developed based on my past.  Using this information coupled with a reasoned attitude towards the parameters of the present, that being the things that are directly influencing the idea eg. a design brief for a project; an idea eventually begins to emerge A blog exercises aural, visual and textual methods of portraying information and I wish to use this as a way to eventually process the accumulated data to generate what I call a 'mnemonigram'; A diagram that organises and represents my blog post data in a new light; helping me to understand and reinterpret the things that I have found important.

I intend mnemonigram to be broad, open-ended and occasionally personal, therefore I did ponder whether the internet was the most dignified choice of medium. However, the concept of mnemonigram stemmed from reading various personal blogs, diaries, monologues and also discussing over many soothing beers with my friends the stresses of coming up with an idea or being creative. So I can only hope that by skimming through my posts, the content may inspire you to document and reflect on the memories, experiences, and thoughts that have moved you with the intent that at sometime they may be drawn upon to conceive an idea.

Please voice your opinions, comments, blasphemous rants and reflections on any of my posts.

I need a 'nama biru' immediately. First post complete. kum pai!
